“Alaska” Salmon

For as Long as I can remember I have always dreamed of going to Alaska. So when an opportunity presented it self I jumped.  Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute who made this trip of a lifetime possible.www.alaskaseafood.org

On our second day at sea aboard the Sikumi http://www.sikumi.com/ the group I was with got to board Scott McAllister’s Purse Seiner boat to see how they catch salmon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seine_fishing  Scott and his crew had been out for a while already when we  caught up to them near Chatham Straits. Fishing these waters for more than forty years Scott knows a great spot when he see it.

Thanks to Scott,Jake & Mike McAllister, Owen Kelly And Dave McCasland for letting us see how they Catch 20 Tons of Salmon. Video From Scott McAllisters Salmon Catch

You can see the rest of the images from this part of my trip in my travel section and also check out Jill Melton’s Blog for more stories. https://jill-melton-umsf.squarespace.com
